COGNOR SA HSJ Branch in Stalowa Wola is one of the leading producers of specialist and alloy steels in Poland. The metallurgical traditions of the HSJ plant in Stalowa Wola go back to the Central Industrial District. The Company is part of the Polish Capital Group COGNOR. HSJ is a manufacturer of steel products executing orders in a wide grade range, including the basic and alloy steel goods as well as special products, especially armour plating used in Rosomak armoured vehicles. The Company is also a technology partner and supplier of goods for the automotive, energy, machinery and mining sector. The HSJ Branch is also of significant importance for the circular economy as the Company’s production is based on scrap metal recycling. The steel scrap metal is melted in the electric arc furnace (EAF) to a liquid form and, once it is cleaned and enriched with adequate alloy additives, it acquires steel properties. Annually the HSJ produces about 250 different steel grades and their variations using the continuous casting machine (COS) and in the ingot mould. The HSJ executes numerous investment projects, especially machinery modernization, production safety and quality conditions enhancement resulting in introducing new and improving the existing production processes to ensure a higher plant production capacity.
